MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE | SENTRIM MARA CAMP OR JAMBO MARA SAFARI LODGELeaving Nairobi after breakfast, you’ll travel towards Kenya’s fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on the road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. Look for the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment. You’ll pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley fields before you reach the Maasai Mara and be at your camp in time for lunch. There will be an afternoon game drive to introduce you to the park. Day 3 |
MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE | SENTRIM MARA CAMP OR JAMBO MARA SAFARI LODGEGrab an early morning tea or coffee at the camp and then leave with a packed bush breakfast to enjoy a morning game drive and watch life in the savanna awaken. Return to the camp for lunch. Relax at the camp until 4 o’clock. Then you will proceed to an afternoon game drive and watch the sunset or stay at the camp to relax. Maasai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black-maned males. See the Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelopes cross the extensive Mara River. Experience the battle between survival and hunger and how life in the savanna is constantly moving. You are also likely to see many elephants here, often in large herds, and – if you’re lucky leopard, cheetah, and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents of this area. The African buffalo isn’t shy, so you’ll surely meet a few. Get the cameras ready and enjoy yourselves! In the evening, visit a Maasai village. MAASAI MARA – LAKE NAKURU | LAKE NAKURU LODGELeaving Maasai Mara after breakfast, you’ll travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley litter the landscape as you head north to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffes and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at Lake Nakuru. The waters here are often colored shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. After lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge, depart for an afternoon game drive in Nakuru National Park before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight. LAKE NAKURU – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK VIA LAKE NAIVASHA | SENTRIM AMBOSELI LODGEAfter an early breakfast, you will depart and drive to Lake Naivasha for an hour boat ride for bird watching and hippo viewing. Later, drive to Amboseli National park with lunch on the way. Arrive at Amboseli in the late afternoon. Proceed with a game drive in the park. AMBOSELI | SENTRIM AMBOSELI CAMPEnjoy a full day in the park filled with game drives in the early morning and in the afternoon in Amboseli National Park. Keep an eye out for the magnificent views from the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, also known as “the roof of Africa.” The best time to catch a view of the tallest free-standing mountain in the world is during early morning or just around sunset. AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – NAIROBI AIRPORT | DEPARTFollowing an early breakfast, you’ll catch your last views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli while taking your final glimpses of game e- route to the park’s border. Arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city of Nairobi by early midday. A journey that is approximately 220 km/ 3hrs 45 mins. On arrival, lunch at the Carnivore restaurant and later drop off at the airport for your departure flight. |
