Experience the Wonders of Serengeti National Park
When it comes to national parks in Africa, Serengeti stands out as one of the most iconic parks. Renowned worldwide, it’s one of the most popular destinations for anyone seeking an authentic safari experience in Africa. Bordering Kenya, the Serengeti is situated in northern Tanzania and is the ideal place to encounter some of the continent’s most iconic animals such as elephants, lions, zebras, wildebeest and much more.
As the second-largest national park in Tanzania, the Serengeti spans approximately 15,000 square kilometers and is home to thousands of animals. Serengeti is nature at its wildest, making this the perfect location for safari adventures.
When joining us on a Serengeti safari you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vast Serengeti plains up close, observing the magnificent wildlife in their natural habitat. Or perhaps, see everything from a different perspective and soar over the savanna from above by a hot air balloon. Depending on what time of year you’re traveling, you may also get to witness “The Great Migration” – one of the most spectacular events on the planet!

Best Time to Visit Serengeti National Park
No matter what time of year you visit you’ll always have an unforgettable experience and a Serengeti Safari will always be filled with wildlife and beautiful nature. However, depending on when you decide to visit you may have a slightly different experience.
January - March
During the period of January to March the plains of Serengeti take on a lush shade of emerald and there’s less dust making for great game viewing. During the month of February the wildebeest calving season starts and you’ll have a chance to witness the herds give birth. During March the “long rains” begin and the green season ends which usually means there’s less safari crowds.
April - June
The period between April and June is usually very humid with more wet weather which makes this period less crowdy. This period is an ideal time to get off the beaten path to explore some more remote locations. During May there’s usually very heavy rainfall making the camps and lodges relatively quiet. But after rain comes sunshine, and June is the start of the dry season. This is also when the Great Migration starts moving north.
July - September
The most popular time to visit Serengeti is between July and September during the dry season. August is peak season and a good time to witness river crossings from northern Serengeti into the Maasai Mara.
October - December
October to December is the end of the dry season and the Wildebeest Migration’s herds have entered Kenya. Game viewing in Serengeti during this period is still spectacular and a great time to go on a Serengeti safari. During November the “short rains” begin and the park is a bit quieter. The temperature and humidity start rising for the wetter summer months.
No matter when you visit, the Serengeti is always teeming with wildlife and beautiful vistas for you to discover. There’s never a bad time to explore Serengeti National Park!
