PICKUP | ORIGINAL MAASAI LODGEOur driver will pick you up at your designated location. It’s a 1,5-2 hours journey through untouched wild Maasai area to the Original Maasai Lodge. Built and run by the Maasai, the Original Maasai Lodge offers nature, culture and relaxation with views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Get to know the Maasai through campfire stories, spear throwing and traditional dances. The pool, massage rooms, sauna and rest areas are just right for relaxation. With a total of 16 bungalows we guarantee exclusivity, individuality and authenticity. Upon arrival at the lodge you will check in and arrange the next days activities together with the lodge manager. Thereafter your time is completely reserved for you to relax and acclimatize. Enjoy the swimming pool, sauna, massage (extra charge) and our mirror cave to relax.

Day 2 |
GUIDED NATURE WALK | ORIGINAL MAASAI LODGEAfter breakfast, you will discover the plants of Maasai medicine with a naturopathic guide. On this walk through the Maasailand you will have the opportunity to learn everything about the Maasai culture and healing traditions from your guide, gaining a deep insight into the everyday life of the people. On your way, you might come across some cattle led by young Maasai children and even be able to see some zebras or antelopes. Return back to the lodge in the afternoon for lunch and relaxation.
Maasai interaction Shortly before sunset, the Maasai will introduce you to their skills at spear-throwing. While trying to shoot a target with your own spear, your senses will be taken into old adventures and fantasies of killing a lion. Afterward, you get the chance to watch the traditional dances while the sun sets behind Mount Meru. At the campfire, you will learn everything about the Maasai culture and are invited to ask many questions, before you head to dinner.

Day 3 |
LIVE LIKE A MAASAI FOR ONE DAY | ORIGINAL MAASAI LODGEToday you will have the opportunity to try on the traditional Maasai clothes yourself. In the Maasailand you will soon find a herd and a Maasai child will help you to get them to their destination with whistling sounds. Go goat and cow milking in one of the Maasai settlements and have a look at their houses (bomas). After a late brunch men will collect healing plants, slaughter a goat and prepare the goat on the fireplace. Women will look for firewood and repair their Maasai houses. Feel free to support them wherever you want to experience the challenges of the life of a Maasai. At the next stop, you will learn how to make shoes from old tires, typical Maasai shoes that they wear for about 5-8 years. Finish the evening with a special goat fire celebration and dances. During the whole day, you will be accompanied by one of our Maasai guides who will explain to you the deeper meaning of Maasai life. An experience you will never forget!

BUSH BREAKFAST | DEPARTUREYour wake-up call today will be a bit earlier than usual in order to start the day together with the animals living in the Maasai savannah. Our open land rover will bring you to the midst of awakening nature, where you will enjoy your bush breakfast. Whilst you are having your morning coffee, you will have time to feel the African sun slowly increasing in strength and color. Spot antelopes, giraffes, and their zebra fellows, or hear them grazing around you. You will return back to the lodge in the mid-morning around 1100hrs to prepare for your departure for your next destination or airport. |

Mountain Climbs: $25-50 USD per Day per Climber to be shared between guides, chefs and porters.
Safaris: Driver/Guide: $35-50 USD per Day per Car. If it is a camping safari there will be a tip for the cook $10 USD per Day.
