Kenya Activities

When is the best time to visit Kenya for a safari?
The best time to visit Kenya for a safari depends on what you want to see and do. Generally, the best time to go on a safari in Kenya is during the dry season, which runs from June to October. During this time, the weather is dry, and wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around waterholes and rivers. The temperatures are also cooler, making it more comfortable for game drives. However, if you’re interested in seeing the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara, the best time to visit is between July and September. This is when millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles migrate from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya in search of fresh grazing. If you’re interested in bird watching, the best time to visit is during the wet season, which runs from November to May. During this time, many migratory birds arrive in Kenya, and the vegetation is lush and green.
When is the great wildebeest migration?
The Great Wildebeest Migration is an annual event in the Serengeti ecosystem, spanning across Tanzania and Kenya. The exact timing of the migration can vary from year to year. Still, it generally takes place between July and October, with the wildebeest moving from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya. During this time, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles migrate in search of fresh grazing and water, making it a spectacular wildlife event.
Is Kenya safe to travel to?
Kenya is generally safe to travel to, but like any other country, there are some safety concerns that travelers should be aware of. Petty crimes, such as pickpocketing and theft, can occur in crowded areas like markets, bus stations, and tourist sites, so it’s important to keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of your surroundings. It’s also recommended to avoid walking alone at night, particularly in urban areas.
What should I wear while on safari in Kenya?
When on safari in Kenya, it’s important to dress appropriately for both comfort and practicality. Here are some tips on what to wear: Lightweight, breathable clothing: Kenya’s climate is generally warm, so it’s important to wear lightweight and breathable clothing that will keep you cool and comfortable during game drives. Loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts, and pants made of lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen are a good choice. Neutral-colored clothing: When on safari, it’s best to wear neutral-colored clothing like beige, khaki, or green. Bright colors or patterns can make it more difficult to observe wildlife without disturbing them. Closed-toe shoes: It’s important to wear sturdy, comfortable, closed-toe shoes that provide good support for walking and hiking. Sneakers or hiking boots are a good choice. Hat and sunglasses: A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses will provide shade and protection from the sun during game drives. Layering: Kenya’s climate can vary from hot and sunny during the day to cool and windy at night, so it’s important to dress in layers that can be easily added or removed. Insect repellent: Mosquitoes and other insects can be present in some areas of Kenya, so it’s important to apply insect repellent and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants in the evenings.
Do safari lodges & tented camps have WiFi ?
Almost all safari lodges and tented camp accommodations during your safari do provide free Wifi. Wifi is usually provided in the public areas of the safari lodges and tented camps, including the reception, dining areas, and lounge. It is not provided in individual rooms or tents. Please keep in mind that these lodges are located in remote areas with wild animals, so there is a chance that internet availability can fluctuate.
Can we request an extra night/day on safari?
Yes, it is possible if you are on a private safari. However, It would also be subject to the availability of extended accommodation in the respective tented camp or lodge. An extra day on safari shall also require extra payment. Please get in touch with us at sales@worldadventuretours.com
Are mosquito nets provided in the rooms or tents while on safari?
We offer well-selected safari lodges and tented camps that offer you comfort, relaxation, and an incredible Kenyan safari atmosphere. All rooms and tents during your safari are fitted with mosquito nets or are insect proofed to protect you against bites. You are also advised to carry and use insect repellent to further protect yourself, especially outdoors during the evenings.
What is the tipping etiquette for safari guides and mountain crews on trips like this?
Tipping is highly appreciated at the end of safari/mountain climb. The size of tips will vary depending on the length and complexity of the trip, the number of staff on the trip and the number of clients on the trip. Generally, groups like to meet together before the end of the trek to discuss how much they would like to tip each staff member based on their individual trek experience. You should prepare an envelope after your trek for your tip money at the Hotel. You can use US dollars, Euros, TZ Shillings or a combination of these. Please ask the Safari/Climbing coordinator at the Hotel for advice.
RECOMMENDED TIP:
Mountain Climbs: $25-50 USD per Day per Climber to be shared between guides, chefs and porters.
Safaris: Driver/Guide: $35-50 USD per Day per Car. If it is a camping safari there will be a tip for the cook $10 USD per Day.
THESE ARE JUST GUIDELINES AND TIPS CAN BE GIVEN TO SAFARI STAFF/MOUNTAIN CREW ACCORDING TO SERVICES PROVIDED.
