Journey to Kibale Forest
A guide will meet you in Kampala, and the journey begins toward the lush landscapes of Fort Portal. Stop at the sacred Nakayima tree, a historic and spiritual site, before continuing through tea plantations and rural villages. Arrive at Kibale Forest National Park by afternoon – renowned for its dense canopy and extraordinary primate diversity.
Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax at the lodge or explore the nearby crater lakes.

Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland
Start the day with an early breakfast before setting off into Kibale Forest for tracking wild chimpanzees. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the forest’s trees, birds, and other primates. The sound of chimpanzees call through the canopy, the sight of them leaping, and resting just meters away is humbling and unforgettable.
After lunch, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-led conservation area. Walk along wooden trails that wind through papyrus swamps and forest edges, home to red-tailed monkeys, colobus, and over 200 bird species including the spectacular great blue turaco and papyrus gonolek. It’s a day of rare encounters and deep natural beauty.

Through Ishasha to Bwindi’s Highlands
Depart Kibale early for a full-day journey south, passing through Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, often seen relaxing in fig trees and acacia branches. Keep watch for elephants, buffalo, topi, and the Uganda kob as you move through golden grasslands by the Rwenzori foothills.
After a relaxed game drive and picnic stop, continue toward the mountainous terrain of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rare biodiversity and spectacular scenery.

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
Set off before sunrise into the misty jungle of Bwindi, led by expert trackers and armed rangers. Your group will follow signs – fresh footprints, broken branches, distant calls – until you reach one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families. Spend up to an hour with them, observing their powerful presence and peaceful routines in a setting that feels ancient and untouched. It’s a deeply personal moment that stays with you forever.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. If time and energy allow, explore a nearby community to learn how conservation supports the local people, or take a short forest walk to see orchids and other flora unique to the region.
