Lake Manyara Safari

Discover The Wonders Of Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park, named after the picturesque Lake Manyara, is a captivating destination located in northern Tanzania. Spanning approximately 231 square kilometers, the park may be smaller than some of Tanzania’s more well-known reserves, but it offers a remarkably diverse landscape that includes a shimmering lake, lush groundwater forests, open savannahs, and expansive wetlands.

Despite its modest size, Lake Manyara National Park is teeming with wildlife, making it an ideal location for unforgettable safari experiences. One of the park’s most unique attractions is its population of tree-climbing lions—an unusual behavior rarely seen in other parts of Africa. Whether you’re an avid nature enthusiast or a first-time safari-goer, a Lake Manyara safari promises breathtaking scenery, incredible biodiversity and exciting wildlife.

Best Time To Visit Lake Manyara

No matter what time of year you visit you’ll always have an unforgettable experience and a Lake Manyara Safari will always be filled with wildlife and beautiful nature. However, your experience might vary slightly depending on if you’re visiting during the wet season or the dry season.

Dry Season (June - October)

Rain is rare during the dry season, creating clear skies and excellent visibility—ideal for taking in the beautiful landscapes. Daytime temperatures average around 26°C (79°F), while nights can be quite cool, dropping to about 14°C (57°F) and staying chilly until morning. If you plan to join early game drives, be sure to pack warm clothing for the cooler mornings.

Wet Season (November - May)

Rainfall is more frequent during the wet season, especially in March, April, and May when showers are almost daily. The increased rainfall transforms the landscape into a lush, green paradise, offering stunning scenery and vibrant views. Daytime temperatures can reach up to 28°C (82°F), while nights are milder, averaging around 19°C (66°F).

Thanks to the lake’s constant water supply, wildlife is drawn to the area throughout the year. This makes Lake Manyara a fantastic safari destination no matter the season. There’s never a bad time go on a Lake Manyara safari!
